INTRODUCTION
School is the place where the children find out about themselves and their world, where they meet new people, make friends , learn from
each other and from their teachers. In short school is a place that prepare them for the future.
But in today's times, being a school student can be a difficult act. It is easy to get weighed down with the pressures of academics, social life and parent's expectations of performing well in exams. Technology and media are becoming bigger distractions in their life. If personal problems are added on top of these pressures, students can feel overwhelmed . . . and lose their balance.
PROBLEMS AT SCHOOL
Apart from these usual problems it's not uncommon to see children who suffer from school refusal, difficulty with concentration and learning, troublesome behavior, eating and sleeping problems. Some are momentary, mild and moderate, others serious causing distress, confusion become uncontrollable.
These problems can show themselves in form of poor academic performance, lack of motivation in school, loss of interest in school work, or poor relationships with peers or teachers.
OTHER PROBLEMS STUDENTS FACE AT SCHOOL
    1. Consistence poor performance in more than one subject.
    2. Lack of engagement, connection or involvement with school
    3. Not interested even in extracurricular activities.
    4. Resistance to homework
    5. Boredom with school work or not feeling challenged enough attention or behavior problems
    6. Low confidence or lack of self-esteem
    7. Excuses not to go to school or skipping school
    8. Being bullied at school
    9. Eating and sleeping disorders
    10. Strained relations with peers and teachers.
Children with special needs
Some children have attention problems, high levels of anxiety, or aggressive behaviour .They are at greater risk of difficulties at school because they might find it hard to concentrate during tasks and respond to teacher instructions.
Problems that a teenager faces
The teenage years are a time of rapid growth and change – physically, mentally and socially. Teenagers often have to make early decisions about school subjects, study, careers and work. In fact, many teenagers feel that their secondary school marks decide their whole future – that’s a lot of pressure. The main issues with teenagers are
    Coping with stress
Problems at school or study problems
    Anxiety and depression
    Family conflict and/or family breakdown

THERE IS A NEED
Apart from the fact that the children are facing these problems at school, the worst part is that they hide problems from their parents, teachers, and peers. This can make it very difficult to pick up on a problem. Sometimes even teachers might not spot the clues or even if they do, it's very rare that they will go to the depth of the problem.
Let's face it, Parents and teachers are not someone who the children feel comfortable talking to. Rather they will share it with their friends. Reason- Lack of understanding in adults and not seeing the situation through the child's perspective.
Our children need to be motivated today ,they need someone who they can confide in. Someone who will really listen to them without judging . Besides, they need to be constantly reminded how special they are and they are capable of much more than they think. We need to tell them it's ok to make mistakes, it's ok to fail once in a while. As long as they are learning from them, they will become stronger. We have to dare them to be different and not follow the herd. we need to guide them to overcome peer pressure. If they get right care and guidance for these impressionable years of their life, we can be sure they will survive all the obstacles and challenges in life.
There’s also a strong link between physical health and academic performance. We need to consider this aspect too.
We keep on telling them "Study Hard and get good grades", but do we ever tell them how they can study the smart way ? What strategies do they need to follow and most importantly how to avoid the distractions created by media and technology today. How to balance their social and academics life. How to not get carried away by the social media and make real friends. Do ever talk to our children regarding the things which are part and parcel of their life?
