THE YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR
CHANGING THE WORLD STARTS WITH AN IDEA !
This statement is evident in the growth of technology-focused startups like Flipkart,Snapdeal,OLA, MakeMyTrip,Quikr, Zomato and many others.
INTRODUCTION
Entrepreneurship is the willingness to take risks and develop, organize and manage a business venture in a competitive global marketplace
that is constantly evolving.Entrepreneurs are pioneers, innovators, leaders and inventors.
The future will be driven by innovation and entrepreneurship. If we want to develop the human resources required for building the societies of the future, it can be done only by creating an environment where the young mind can try and apply new ideas.
Entrepreneurship and education need to be interconnected and leveraged. That 's why teaching entrepreneurship education is a great long-term investment for students.
THERE IS A NEED
Entrepreneurship is the greatest asset for any nation's economy. Entrepreneurs drive innovation, create jobs, fuel the economy and make the world a better place. Imagine how different our life would be without it !
At the launch event of the Startup India initiative, it was rightly said by our PM-"We have a million problems, but at the same time we have over a billion minds."
In spite of the initiative and effort of government, the Entrepreneurship education in India is still in its embryonic stage. We need to introduce and implement it in schools.
Our generation is the storehouse of energy ,they just need the right environment where they can unleash their potential.
It can be done only by creating an environment where entrepreneurship can prosper and where our children can try and work on new ideas
Statistics claim that roughly 2.5 per cent of the population of India are entrepreneurs, which is drastically low if you compare it with that in the developed countries. There are many factors contributing to this inadequate growth
Inadequate educational structure: The main cause behind this is the lack of proper entrepreneurial education at primary, secondary and university level. Entrepreneurship is never talked about in schools until later when the students opt for subjects like MBA. But the truth is that Entrepreneurship is important in every aspect of student's life.
Lack of moral support: Often young people do not get the necessary support from their family to take that plunge. While entrepreneurship comes with its own set of challenges, a steady job means guaranteed monthly income. This is the reason why families discourage children to start their own venture. This lack of motivation causes our future entrepreneurs to curb their potential and creativity. The fear of failure stops them from taking the first step.
Lack of Direction : There are thousands of unknown entrepreneurs in India who start a venture but are unable to make it big due to lack of appropriate knowledge and direction to expand and carry forward with their idea.
Changing technology and business models: The ever growing technology requires to evolve, update and change their organizational structure constantly in order to survive which at times disrupts its current standing and future.
What is needed to change the current scenario is the change in the education system, the curriculum, and structure at both primary and secondary level.
Recently, the Kerala government and some prestigious institutes(including IIT and IIM ) have granted a one-year break from regular studies to engineering students who want to be entrepreneurs and start their own companies. After this break, these students will be allowed to return and continue with their engineering studies. All these initiatives by colleges, supported by Government of India, are aimed at promoting entrepreneurship spirit among students.
There is a desperate need for inclusion of entrepreneurship as an important element in the educational curriculum so that aspiring entrepreneurs can learn about starting a venture in an organized and structured manner.Education can help them to go about it in the proper direction in terms of having a stable business model and plan, sound knowledge of funding schemes and regulations, understanding the market trends and eventually setting up the company.
Knowledge of entrepreneurship should be a part of every course and degree. A basic module should be included in the curriculum of every program as every course has a prospect to wing out into entrepreneurial domain.
For Entrepreneurship to grow successfully and all the emerging startups to be successful entrepreneurial units, the correct steps need to be taken in every part of the country right from the beginning of a child’s early years, to develop that interest and build that caliber, which will eventually give them the correct knowledge in the right direction and change the complete outlook of markets in India. As ‘Knowledge leads to wisdom and wisdom to greatness’
